Phthalates (THAL-ates) are chemicals that have been used for 50 years to make plastics softer and more flexible in a wide variety of products. The Consumer Product Safety Commission Reform Act of 2008 bans from children’s products six toxic phthalates linked to breast cancer, birth defects and other health problems.
In response to this legislation, Discom Technologies now offers our customers the option of a patented phthalate-compliant vinyl sleeve. This innovative product is appropriate for binding in educational publishing, children’s books and other uses where a child might put the sleeve in his or her mouth. By the end of 2009 all Discom vinyl packages will be manufactured using this new material.
Please contact Discom Technologies for more information on this sleeve or other safe, affordable solutions to your needs.
